WeldCheck Launch Picks Up Pace

Weldcheck Launch

October 2013

The BINDT Materials Testing Exhibition 2013 at Telford saw the official launch of the WeldCheck Eddy Current Flaw Detector and since then we have been delighted to see the news of a new ECT Flaw Detector travel fast.

The WeldCheck is a new product 100% designed and manufactured in the UK by the ETher NDE Team in Harpenden.  Fitted with industry standard 12-Way Lemo and Co-axial Lemo 00 connectors, the WeldCheck is able to use absolute, bridge and reflection probes without the need for adaptors.

The WeldCheck is the first-ever Eddy Current NDT Instrument to be designed specifically for the demands of the Offshore Industry.

The WeldCheck features a daylight-readable 5.7” LCD Colour Full VGA  (640 x 480 pixels) Screen ensuring the Operator has excellent signal presentation no matter what the working conditions are. The user is able to configure the colour scheme and display types to suit their personal preferences and with the built-in “flip” function the WeldCheck works equally well for left or right-handed users. With an absolute minimum of 8.5 hours battery life, when used with a 100kHz Weld Probe at a maximum brightness (100% backlight) setting, the WeldCheck is the obvious choice when faced with a long day of Eddy Current NDT.  Furthermore, the WeldCheck has a tough Aluminium/Mg Si 0.5 Alloy powder-coated outer case and four harness attachment points and a foot stand. At a weight of just 1.1kg, the WeldCheck is equally suited to all environments whether it be a laboratory desktop or the rigours of rope access inspection.

The WeldCheck software has been designed to make the end users task simpler. The menu system is easy and fast to navigate with the ability to add chosen items to the side-bar for rapid access and a quick setting menu for rapid set-up review and adjustment. The ability to have both the paint coating thickness assessment probe and the weld probe attached during use and then simply change settings to use either as required makes this instrument the clear choice for efficient and reliable rope access inspection.

John Hansen, MD of ETher NDE said,

“The WeldCheck is the first of a family of application-specific eddy current NDT instruments from ETher NDE.  Designed and manufactured entirely in the UK, we have consulted with a great many end-users and training companies to produce a simple and easy-to-use yet rugged instrument that meets the unique demands of rope access inspection”
